MCPHS offers designated lactation spaces to support the needs of a nursing person.

What Are Lactation Spaces?

Lactation spaces are private rooms designed to provide a comfortable and secure environment for nursing parents to pump or breastfeed/chest feed.

Locations and Access

The lactation spaces are conveniently located across each campus:

Please review the following section on what to expect in the lactation spaces, suggested items to bring, and additional resources.

Each lactation space is equipped with:

  • Comfortable seating
  • Electrical outlets for breast pumps
  • Small table for personal items
  • A sink (where available) for cleaning supplies
  • Privacy lock to ensure a secure environment   

These amenities are designed to make the experience as convenient and comfortable as possible. Please remember to bring your own breast pump and storage containers.

This list of items to pack in your pumping bag may be helpful to you.

Necessities

  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Quick clean wipes
  • Enough bottles for the day plus extra zip seal milk storage bags
  • Extension cord, battery pack
  • Extra pump parts, extra caps to bottles
  • Cooler with frozen water bottles as ice packs

Nice to Have

  • Photo of baby or baby’s receiving blanket (for your lap: protection and tactile reminder of baby)
  • Snack or protein bars
  • Music with headphones
  • Smartphone or another mobile device

The lactation spaces are cleaned regularly. Should you notice any cleanliness and/or other issues with the space, please submit a Facilities ticket.

If a lactation space is in use, please visit our office so we can assist in locating an alternative space.
