Living in Boston

Student Life

Make the most of your MCPHS experience by embracing city life and exploring this urban campus.

So great, you may never leave

Located in the heart of the city, MCPHS is a uniquely urban university. Boston is its campus, with music, art, food, culture, shopping, sports, and more right outside your door. The experiences you have on- and off-campus will shape you professionally and personally, so be sure to take advantage of every opportunity the city has to offer.

Food

There's something in Boston for everyone's tastes. If you love all things Italian, the North End is home to 400 years of history mixed in with delicious, homestyle cooking, from pasta, to cannoli, and everything in between. But if there's one thing New England can do, it's fresh seafood. The ocean-adjacent Seaport is home to both the Barking Crab and Legal Harborside which offer catch-of-the-day entrees and classic Bostonian lobster rolls.

History

Monuments, buildings, and more dot Boston's winding streets and offer a glimpse into the early days of America. Visit the birthplaces of historic influencers, the sites of many critical moments in the American Revolution. No matter where you wander in this city, you will be immersed in Boston's rich history.

Museums

Boston's museums showcase a unique variety of history, art, artifacts, and mystery. The Museum of Fine Arts and The Institute of Contemporary Art have rotating exhibits to keep visitors coming back. Steps from MCPHS, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum was the site of one of the most infamous art heists in history. Several museums also offer complimentary entry to students.

Music & Theater

The performance scene is eclectic, lively, and diverse. Singers, musicians, and performers put on shows every day across Boston venues. Find up-and-coming artists at smaller venues, or see the biggest stars at the TD Garden, or catch a hit musical traveling through the city. If you're in the mood to see a show, you'll have no problem finding one to fit your tastes.

Outdoor Spaces

Despite its urban design, Boston is a city packed with green spaces that provide the perfect venue to spend time outside. The Boston Common and Public Garden are most famous, and the Charles River Esplanade, Emerald Necklace, and the Back Bay Fens are walking distance from MCPHS.
