Associate Professor Terrick Andey
After coming to the U.S. from Ghana to complete his graduate study and a post-doc, MCPHS Associate Professor of Pharmacy Terrick Andey planned to use his first full-time teaching job as a springboard for exploring additional opportunities. “My goal was to work for two years then assess my position,” he says. “It’s been nine years now, and I’m still growing and progressing here.”
Andey joined the MCPHS School of Pharmacy faculty at the Worcester campus in 2015. In 2019, he gained associate professor status and began serving as assistant dean for graduate studies. Andey was appointed chair of the Department of Pharmacy in 2021. “This is a good place for me,” he says. “I’m very engaged with my students and my colleagues. We’re a very diverse and cross-cultural bunch, and we have a strong sense of community. I feel that people here are very invested in my success.”
A key factor for Andey in considering MCPHS for his career launch was its dual emphasis on teaching and scholarship. “From my very first phone interview,” he recalls, “I understood that I would be well supported in my primary duties teaching PharmD and graduate students and in pursuit of my scholarly interests. From President Lessard and Provost Zeind on down, MCPHS definitely lives up to its reputation for investing in faculty members and growing opportunities for us.”
