Time Away

Time away that respects and supports your needs.

Time away from work—for rest and relaxation, holiday celebrations, personal matters, illness or injury—is essential to your health and well-being. Our goal at MCPHS is that you, your students, coworkers, and supervisors recognize one another’s needs and find the right balance between professional and personal responsibilities.

Here’s a brief overview of what we offer.

Vacation time for staff

Eligible staff accrue vacation time by pay period and can carry over up to 1.5 times their annual accrual. As a new hire, eligible non-exempt employees can accrue up to 2 weeks per year and exempt employees can accrue up to 3 weeks per year. Accrual amounts increase based on years of service with the University.

Vacation time for faculty

Eligible full-time faculty accrue up to 22 days of vacation time each fiscal year.

Paid holidays

As an MCPHS employee, you receive 13 paid holidays each calendar year. The Office of Human Resources publishes an annual list of paid holidays with the applicable dates. Additional days off may be added around July 4 and the winter break at the discretion of the MCPHS president.

Paid sick time

Regular full-time employees accrue up to 10 paid sick days each year. All other employees accrue one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours they work up to a maximum of 40 hours.

Personal days for staff

Regular full-time staff receive two personal days each fiscal year.

Part-Time Employees

Paid time off is prorated for eligible part-time employees based on the number of hours they work.
