A pharmacist who specializes in the preparation and distribution of medications while also providing clinical services, such as medication therapy management, patient consultations, immunizations, collaborative care, medication management, and education.
- Community pharmacy is integrated throughout the entire School of Pharmacy curriculum.
- Lab-based courses and those focused on outpatient and over the counter self-care treatments are of particular note.

- Experience in the field is required for most roles. Possibilities include internships/rotations at compounding pharmacies, additional certifications, or residency programs with compounding components.
- PGY1 Community Based Pharmacy residency programs. Refer to the ASHP website for a full list of PGY1 opportunities.
- Executive Fellowships in Pharmacy Practice Leadership (example: Walgreens)
- Mentorship programs for PharmD students on all 3 campuses
- Pharmacy intern opportunities at all community pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens, Shaws/OSCO, Wegmans, Stop and Shop, etc.)
- Community Pharmacy is a required IPPE and APPE rotation. Through MCPHS’s Experiential Education department, students will be able to select compounding pharmacy opportunities during their final year.
