As a health system pharmacist, you'll work with patients with complex medication needs. You might work in internal medicine and collaborate with physicians to treat patients with chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and pulmonary diseases.
Inpatient clinical pharmacists can have a variety of specialties, including heart failure, oncology, pain, behavioral health, pulmonary diseases, anticoagulation, weight management/obesity, geriatrics.

- All School of Pharmacy students will have the opportunity to participate in co-curricular and interprofessional activities through affiliated organizations. For example, Tufts University, Harvard Medical/Dental schools, University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, Chan Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing, and Baystate Health Population-based Urban and Rural Community Health (PURCH) program.
- Students are encouraged to connect with faculty in their area of interest for additional guidance and opportunities available through the professional years of the pharmacy program, post-graduate training, and career paths.
- Students are required to complete a core set of clinical experiences, including community pharmacy, institutional pharmacy, ambulatory care, and internal medicine, during the APPE year.
