This two-year program, year-round program—designed for transfer students and bachelor’s degree holders—builds on your previous college studies to extend your expertise into echocardiography and vascular medical imaging.

Help Detect and Diagnose Medical Conditions

In this 24-consecutive-month program at our Boston campus, you will work alongside professional experts through clinical experiences in prestigious New England area medical facilities. The accelerated nature of the program gives you the benefit of an immersive education and speeds your career launch. Your bachelor’s degree will include a comprehensive curriculum in fetal, pediatric, and adult echocardiography as well as vascular medical imaging. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to sit for national registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and the Cardiac Credentialing International exam (CCI). The program starts in the fall.

First-Year Experience

  • explore the intricacies of diagnostic medical sonography
  • learn the physics and instrumentation of sonography and sonography lab procedures
  • study pediatric and adult heart disease, cardiac ultrasound imaging, and vascular sonography
  • gain insights into problem solving in physics and instrumentation

Second-Year Experience

  • participate in multiple cardiac ultrasound practicums
  • learn the essentials of interpersonal communication for health professionals
  • build a thorough knowledge of healthcare ethics and how to apply clinical thinking in echocardiography
  • gain insights into advanced echocardiography problem solving
  • complete a cardiac ultrasound capstone project
  • prepare for cardiac ultrasound registry review

Hands-on Training Starts Right Away

During the first semester, MCPHS students work at the DMS Echocardiography Lab in small groups with faculty experts using the latest technology.
