Doctor of Acupuncture (DAC)Upon successful completion of the Doctor of Acupuncture program, students will be able to:
- Apply the foundational knowledge of acupuncture and/or Chinese herbal medicine to inform diagnosis, treatment, and patient care.
- Understand biomedical principles of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to manage patient care and make appropriate referrals to other healthcare providers.
- Conduct a comprehensive intake, physical exam, and objective assessment to arrive at an East Asian medicine diagnosis.
- Safely administer a patient-centered acupuncture and/or Chinese herbal medicine treatment.
- Practice ethically and with integrity while employing critical reasoning, cultural humility, and professional judgment.
- Communicate effectively in person or through technology to provide patient-centered care and refer to other healthcare professionals as necessary.
- Implement a plan to establish and sustain a successful career in acupuncture.
- Utilize scholarship and research to improve patient care.
- Utilize biomedical diagnostic studies to inform patient care.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing self-reflection, professional development, and lifelong learning.
- Critically appraise evidence and utilize scholarship and research to improve patient care.
