Clinical Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Nursing — PostbaccalaureateTo participate in clinical placements, students must meet all School of Nursing (SON) requirements, including:
Technical & Physical Standards – Must meet the Technical Non-Academic Standards for the School of Nursing found on the Nursing academic program webpage and program handbook.
Immunizations & Health Requirements – Requirements for clinical rotations are set by clinical sites. MCPHS does not have the authority to override these requirements. Medical and faith-based exemptions may be accepted at the discretion of clinical sites. Failure to obtain all immunizations required to participate in clinicals or other activities with patient contact may negatively impact progression in certain academic programs. In order to be eligible for clinical placements or service-learning experiences, students must meet all University immunization requirements and any additional site requirements.

Criminal Background Check – Completion of a criminal background check at the student’s expense.
Drug Screening – Completion of a drug screening, including marijuana (if required by the clinical site) at the student’s expense.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Maintain American Heart AssociationHealthcareProvider BLS certification.
Geographic Clinical Area- Students should be prepared to travel at a minimum of one (1) hour based on clinical availability.
Clinical Schedule – Clinical shifts may be scheduled on weekdays, evenings, nights or weekends, and may be up to 12 hours in length.
Transportation & Expenses – Students are responsible for:
- Transportation to and from clinical sites
- Parking fees at clinical locations
- Costs associated with background checks, immunization requirements, drug screening, and required certifications.
Site-Specific Requirements – Some clinical agencies may have additional requirements. Students must comply with all site-specific policies to remain eligible for placement.
