About
Katlyn Wells (she/her/hers), a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, is the Assistant Director of Counseling Services on the Worcester campus. Katlyn was born and raised in Maine before moving to Boston and attending Boston College for her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.
First introduced to College Counseling as a graduate counseling intern at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2009 she returned to this work as a per diem counselor at MCPHS Worcester from 2017-18. Katlyn was employed at Eliot Community Human Services for more than 7 years where she enjoyed working with youth and their families, and with transitional age youth in the Massachusetts Juvenile Justice system.
Katlyn’s favorite part of being a Mental Health Counselor is getting to meet with and learn from students from a broad range of cultures, backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences. Professionally Katlyn cares about educating others about the importance of Mental Health in order to help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. Katlyn integrates components from treatment approaches including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
Outside of work Katlyn enjoys being outdoors, walks with her dogs, cooking, running, and is working on improving her bread baking skills.
