Cellular Biochemistry (BIO 360E)
Cellular Biochemistry (BIO 360E) is an online, self-paced lecture course with an emphasis on the structure, metabolism, and biochemical function of major macromolecules (proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids). Bioenergetics, enzyme kinetics, cell signaling, and regulation are studied at the molecular level. The lecture also places an emphasis on cellular and physiological applications of biochemistry (in particular, competencies important for study in medical school). After completing the course above, you'll be well-prepared to pursue a degree in fields such as physician assistant and optometry.
Prerequisites: Organic Chemistry II (CHE 232) or equivalent
MCPHS also offers Organic Chemistry II (CHE 232). Please visit our Organic Chemistry II (CHE 232) prerequisite course page for more information.
Course Format
Cellular Biochemistry (BIO 360E) is a 3-credit online, asynchronous, self-paced course. This course does not have specific meeting times or deadlines. You will complete your assignments on your schedule over 16 weeks using Blackboard, an online learning platform. You will also have the support of an instructor, as well as 24/7 online tutoring as you progress through the coursework. Accreditation
MCPHS is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).
We suggest that students purchase their course materials after registering and gaining access to their course. Detailed instructions will then be provided.
The course requires the following textbook:
Cellular Biochemistry:
Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry, 8th Edition.
Author: Nelson, David | Cox, Michael
Textbook ISBN-13: 9781319322342
Students can receive a full tuition refund if they drop a course within five business days of registering. Course changes will also be allowed during this five-day window.
After the five-day window closes (and up until the course's completion date), students may choose to withdraw from the course without a refund. This would result in a "W" on their student record.
Students should use a computer to interact with the course content rather than a mobile device, iPad, or Tablet. Please confirm you have the minimum computer specifications by reviewing the technology requirements for MCPHS before registering for your course.
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they have all the required resources needed to access the course material and software.
How to Register
I loved this class and had so much ease with it because of the thoroughness.
