People Are the Heartbeat of MCPHS

Healthcare is about people helping people. We keep this top of mind as we shape future leaders in the health and life sciences who will serve patients in different ways — from providing direct care to running clinics to discovering medicines.

Fostering Understanding

The dynamic student body across our three campuses and online programs reflects our efforts to build a broad-reaching academic environment. According to a Wall Street Journal analysis, the probability that two randomly selected students in an MCPHS classroom come from different racial, ethnic, or national backgrounds is about 78%. Our student body represents 90 different countries, making up 15% of the overall enrollment. We take pride in these figures.

But numbers alone don’t create a thriving community. At MCPHS, we take active steps to ensure students feel empowered to express themselves, contribute ideas, and grow. The Center for Academic Success and Enrichment, for example, was designed to support students from all walks of life in reaching their full potential.

What does it mean to be a healthcare change agent?

Patients, communities, and society benefit from the infusion of new perspectives into the system. Our own students, faculty, and staff also benefit by learning with and from each other.

The diverse, vibrant student population across our three campuses and online programs is a testament to our DEI efforts. The chance that two random students in an MCPHS classroom come from a different race, ethnicity, or citizenship is about 78%, according to an analysis by the Wall Street Journal. We have students from 90 different countries, representing 15% of our student body overall. We’re proud of these numbers.

But it’s not enough to cultivate a diverse community. At MCPHS, we’re doing whatever it takes to empower students to speak up, contribute ideas and solutions of their own, and flourish. Our Center for Academic Success and Enrichment, for example, was specifically designed to help students of all backgrounds thrive.

We highlight individuals from various communities who are making a difference—those driving better health outcomes, expanding access to care, and promoting overall well-being. Our goal is to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals and broaden their understanding of what it means to foster health and wellness.

We push boundaries to help students succeed. And that includes offering programs around the world that give our students exposure to different cultures and systems.

In addition, we encourage students to become leaders through efforts such as our Center for Research and Discovery – inspiring many who never even considered conducting research to pursue a scholarly project with a faculty mentor. Students who participate in mentored academic experiences are more likely to succeed in class, pursue graduate education, and have higher confidence in their own abilities.

We have a proud history of graduating agents of change who are making a real difference. Our alumni work tirelessly to improve lives. They provide compassionate care in many different settings, serve in governments, shape policy from think tanks, expand minds in academia, and more. Many are modern founders in their own right, identifying healthcare needs and gaps — and mobilizing to fill them, including by starting new organizations.

They are all making an effort to be part of something bigger than themselves. That’s what the power of community is all about.
