About
In June 2018, Dr. Caroline Zeind was appointed Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS). As the University’s chief academic officer, Dr. Zeind oversees 14 schools, serving more than 7,000 students on its three campuses in Boston, Worcester, and Manchester, N.H., in addition to its extensive online programs.
Dr. Zeind received her B.A. and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Tennessee, followed by postdoctoral residency training at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Memphis. In 1995 she joined MCPHS University as a faculty member in the School of Pharmacy, where she rose to the rank of Professor in 2007. Over the past two decades, Dr. Zeind has held administrative appointments including Chairman of the Clinical Pharmacy Department and Associate Dean in the School of Pharmacy, Boston. Within the Office of the Provost, she has held several roles for nearly a decade, including Associate Provost for Academic and International Affairs, Associate Provost for the Worcester, MA and Manchester, NH campuses, and Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost. In her role in International Affairs she has overseen a number of international initiatives, working collaboratively as a member of the University’s Center for International Studies, traveling overseas on several occasions to represent the University on academic collaborations in Malaysia, Japan, and the Middle East. Her contributions have involved interdisciplinary projects for pharmacy, medicine, nursing, dentistry and other health sciences programs.
Prior to MCPHS, Dr. Zeind worked as a clinical pharmacist at Tufts Medical Center while also training pharmacy residents and students on rotations. Her published scholarship includes a textbook, “Applied Therapeutics: The Clinical Use of Drugs,” 12th edition, for which she served as co-editor-in-chief, and numerous publications in healthcare practices, curriculum reform in health sciences, and the scholarship of teaching. Dr. Zeind has also won the University's highest award for teaching excellence, and has been recognized for faculty leadership and research/scholarship.
