Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences—Acupuncture Pathway (BS/MAC)

This 3+3 pathway allows you to earn both a Bachelor of Science in Health Science (BS) and a Masters of Acupuncture (MAC) or Master of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (MAC CHM) in six years instead of the traditional seven.

Lead Change in Integrative Medicine

Acupuncturists are leaders in integrative medicine, making unique contributions to healthcare by providing powerful, patient-centered treatment options for a variety of health concerns. In these BS/MA pathways, you will learn to help solve public health challenges by treating acute and chronic pain effectively, without medications. And you will become adept at providing care across a range of specialties, including pain management, behavioral health, pediatrics, women’s health, and elder care. The program starts in the fall.

Your Three-Year Undergraduate Journey

Spend the first three years at MCPHS–Boston before transitioning to our Worcester campus where you will work with our highly skilled faculty, learning to stimulate energy through acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.

First-Year Experience

  • study anatomy and physiology, basic chemistry, algebra, trigonometry, and attend associated labs
  • participate in a health sciences seminar
  • explore human psychology and expository writing

Second-Year Experience

  • gain an understanding of human development, health psychology, and health promotion
  • learn about American culture and identity and how they impact public health and policy
  • study medical microbiology and statistics

Third-Year Experience

  • explore healthcare ethics, healthcare informatics, healthcare delivery, and writing for health science professionals
  • study cell and molecular biology and research analysis and methods
  • complete health sciences electives
  • students who submit an application, achieve the minimum GPA, and course requirements are guaranteed an interview for admission into the MAC/MAC CHM program
     

The remaining credits to earn the BS degree will be completed within the first year of the Master of Acupuncture or Master of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine pathways.

Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences

Full-time, four-year program at our Boston campus. Choose among three tracks: general, health education, or healthcare management.

Five-year, full-time program on the Boston and Manchester campuses.
