Apply for Financial Aid

At MCPHS we believe that no qualified student should be denied a college education because of limited personal funds. Money and many resources are available to help you take advantage of this opportunity.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

To apply for financial aid for the 2008-2009 academic year the only application required is the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which can be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov

The MCPHS college code for the FAFSA is 002165.

When do I apply?

You do not need to be accepted at the College in order to apply for financial aid. If you wait until you are accepted, it will delay your notification of aid eligibility. File your FAFSA as early as possible, but no sooner than January 1. Use estimated income data if necessary.

Please keep in mind that MCPHS gives maximum consideration to students who meet the March 15 FAFSA priority filing deadline. Late applicants may receive reduced funding levels.

How do I Apply?

Incoming Students
  • You and/or your parents should obtain a federal Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the U.S. Department of Education PIN Registration site. This will allow you to file your FAFSA online.
  • Complete and file your FAFSA online. It's the fastest and most accurate way to apply for aid. You may sign your application electronically using your federal PIN.
Current Students
  • Students who submitted a FAFSA for the previous academic year will receive a Renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid (Renewal FAFSA) directly from the Department of Education or a renewal PIN that will allow you to activate your online renewal FAFSA.

When will I receive my financial aid package?

Award letters are mailed to freshmen and new transfer students on a rolling basis beginning in March. Continuing MCPHS students, with all requirements completed, will receive their award letters in the spring and summer.

Hints on completing the FAFSA:

  • A FAFSA Pre-Application Worksheet can be downloaded from the "Before Beginning a FAFSA Overview" section of the FAFSA website. It can help you organize the information you will need to complete the FAFSA.
  • Be sure to complete all sections.
  • Don't forget to authorize release of your data to MCPHS.
  • Both the student and parents must sign the form if the student is dependent.
  • After you submit your FAFSA, and it has been processed, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR), which lists the information you reported on your FAFSA, as well as your estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC). (The EFC will be used to determine your financial aid package.) Please review the SAR for processing comments and to verify the accuracy of the information; make corrections if necessary.
  • If your SAR indicates you have been selected for verification, please refer to page 11 of the MCPHS Student Financial Services Handbook.
  • If you choose to file your FAFSA through the mail, send it to the central processor (a pre-addressed envelope is attached to the FAFSA), not MCPHS.

Important!

  • The Office of Student Financial Services will notify you if we require additional information or documentation to complete your financial aid application. Please do not send additional documentation unless requested to do so by Student Financial Services.
  • Please respond promptly to all requests for additional information or documents. Because the College has limited availability for some forms of aid, we can not ensure that you will receive the amount for which you may be eligible. These monies are disbursed as applications are completed and funds are available.
  • Keep copies of all documents that are related to your aid application and student account.
  • Official College communications and notices are sent via MCPHS e-mail accounts. All students must check their MCPHS e-mail account regularly for matters related to student financial services, academics, student life, and College notifications.
  • Please notify Student Financial Services and the Office of the Registrar with any address changes and/or updates.

If you have questions about your financial aid or student account, please contact the Office of Student Financial Services for assistance.
